The World Bank has rewarded Bayelsa State with the sum of Four Million Dollars, after emerging as one of the best performing states in the implementation of key educational and healthcare reforms.

‎Giving a breakdown of the $4m rewards to Bayelsa, Technical Adviser to the Governor on Treasury, Revenue and Accounts matters, Mr. Timipre Seipulou stated that key areas like health reforms got $1.5m, education got $1.5m, local government reforms got $500,000 while good citizens budgeting got $500,000.

‎In his remarks at the 190th executive council meeting in Government House, Yenagoa, Governor Douye Diri stated, "It shows that there is work in progress, because, our reforms in the Health and Education sectors are visible for all to see, so, at the end of the day, we are now getting more funds to what we have expended.

‎I like to assure Bayelsans that, all of these monies that are coming in will be used to strengthen the Education and Health sector, and we want to be as transparent as we can.

‎Our duty as a government is to serve our people and to make sure that we improve on whatever that we have met on ground, and so, together, let us work to build a stronger and more transparent Bayelsa State that we we will be proud to hand over to our children."
