The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Comrade Philip Shaibu, has described collaboration among government institutions as essential to improving efficiency, reducing pressure on limited resources, and advancing the policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration.

Shaibu made the remarks during a joint aerobic exercise organised by the National Institute for Sports and the National Judicial Institute (NJI), where staff of both institutions participated in a fitness session aimed at promoting healthy living and strengthening inter-agency cooperation.

He said the partnership demonstrates how government agencies can work together to achieve common goals while making prudent use of available resources.

"Government is one and there is no need for fragments. We must have this kind of engagement that pushes policies forward. A healthy nation will grow faster because health is wealth. You must be physically and mentally fit to do your job," Shaibu said.

The NIS DG added that the institute would continue to extend the keep-fit initiative to other government agencies to encourage a healthier and more productive workforce.

Representing the Administrator of the National Judicial Institute, Hon. Justice Babatunde A. Adejumo, OFR, the Institute's Secretary, Abdulazeez Momoh, commended the partnership, describing it as beneficial to both organisations.

According to him, no single institution possesses all the facilities and resources it requires, making collaboration necessary for improved service delivery.

"Nothing can replace health. Wellness is everything. Government cannot provide everything for everybody, so institutions must collaborate at different levels to bridge existing gaps and promote wellness," Momoh said.

He also disclosed that the NJI has adopted the exercise as a continuous programme, announcing that another joint keep-fit session has already been scheduled for next Tuesday.

Momoh expressed optimism that the initiative would be incorporated into the institute's regular calendar of activities and staff development programmes to encourage a healthier and more productive workforce.

The joint aerobic exercise brought together management and staff of both institutions in a demonstration of their shared commitment to healthy living, teamwork, and stronger collaboration among federal government agencies.
