The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has warned against interference of coaches at Bayelsa United as the club continues to hunt for a technical adviser following sacking of previous coaching crew
Governor Diri, while addressing participants of the weekly Prosperity Walk on Thursday, confirmed that the newly appointed Interim Committee of Bayelsa United is currently conducting interviews for coaches on the vacant managerial position at the club
Diri, who was optimistic on the new board delivering the mandate of returning Bayelsa United to the NPFL, warned against recruitment of players without a substantive coach
Stressing that incoming coaches should be given free-hand to discharge their duty to avoid unnecessary influence on their assessment
"I need to appreciate the Bayelsa United Interim committee that we have put together headed by Dr Singabele. I'm aware that they have hit the ground running and, on the verge of recruiting a new coach for Bayelsa United"
"I want to charge them to run with that speed and ensure that the coaching department is sorted out and that players are sorted out. The players must be sorted out by the coaches, with no interference from the board, no interference from the government"
"Let the coaches bring out the best of players so that when there's demand for performance, we will hold the coaches responsible." Diri said.
